Wow, where has July gone? Sorry I haven’t posted, but it’s been just plain too hot to garden much. The later part of my vacation was spent on the garage, helping a friend move and playing at the pool with the kids. Alas, nowhere in there did I mention gardening. Well, that’s not quite true, I did find a use for the mostly cleared bed #1. Yeah, I know, I’m late for fall planting, but I think I’ll be ok. I planted tons of carrots as they’re the best after a frost when the starches turn

Wow! I received 231 contest entries: 165 via comments, and 66 via subscriptions with the secret phrase. I am planning to get things rolling again here, but I know talk is cheap (especially when I’m the one talking - haha) so let’s just start with a new post and see where that takes us! Last year I wrote a post about how much of a lousy gardener I am . While I’ve certainly dabbled in ‘growing

6 Ways To Not Be A Holier-Than-Thou Traveler

Wow, you know so much about everything! Save it for the book. Photo: Kyle May Alright, you’ve been to 220 countries. You’ve ridden in the front seat of a speeding Myanmar junta’s jeep, jumped into and splashed around the Citarum river, and kissed a woman (and a man) in Antarctica . Wait, there’s only like 195 countries . Point is, you think highly of your well-traveled self. And although the Citarum river swim may be a slight stretch of the truth, you’ve had many crazy and a
